Processing

The gentle handcraft, unchanged for hundreds of years, is how coarse sea salt is harvested.

It crystallizes on the surface of special pools called salt pans, into which ocean water is channeled and enclosed. The sun and wind gradually evaporate the water, forming salt crystals on the surface.

The crystals are harvested by hand, without any machinery, using only long wooden rakes. This keeps the salt's structure consistent and ensures it is perfectly pure and of the highest quality.

As with Kampot pepper, sea salt is harvested and processed by small family farms. Farming families pass down the tradition of sea salt production from generation to generation. The salt is therefore entirely organic, with no need for any further refining. And just as with pepper, we buy the salt directly from these farmers to ensure they receive fair compensation for their hard work.

Uses

Thanks to its delicate flavor and texture, fleur de sel is used primarily as a finishing touch for dishes.

It definitely doesn't belong in a grinder—simply crush it lightly between your fingers and sprinkle the delicate crystals over the surface. They dissolve quickly and perfectly enhance the flavor of the dish. What's more, if you add fleur de sel just before serving, it creates a wonderful crystalline effect on both savory and sweet dishes.

Origin

Perfectly pure and rich in flavor and minerals—that's the salt from the salt pans of Cambodia's Kampot Province.

The tradition of harvesting sea salt is as deeply rooted in the region as pepper cultivation. The conditions here are ideal. Intense sunshine, ocean breezes, and a mild climate encouraged the establishment of salt pans and the harvesting of salt from the ocean hundreds of years ago. Its quality can be compared to sea salt from the most renowned regions of France and Portugal.

Packaging

Thanks to the materials used and the special sealing technology, air and moisture are kept away from the salt.

We pack Kampot fleur de sel in glass jars and also in 100 g Doypack pouches. This helps the salt retain its authentic flavor and aroma even after opening. Once empty, you can also upcycle the pouches as part of a more sustainable approach and continue using them in many different ways. Each package also includes a booklet sharing the story of the world's best pepper and salt and introducing you to the world of .pepper..field.

Awards

Quality comes first for us, as confirmed not only by the certifications our salt holds, but also by the awards it wins at international competitions.

Among the most notable is the award our salt received at the Great Taste Awards, one of the world's most prestigious food competitions.

Sustainability is also important to us—we see it as more than just an empty phrase, as demonstrated by the SDG Award presented to genuinely sustainable and socially responsible projects.
