Origin

Kampot pepper is grown in Kampot Province, located in the far south of Cambodia in Southeast Asia.

Thanks to its coastal climate and geological conditions, this region enables local farmers to produce pepper of the highest quality in the world. It is no coincidence that this pepper has been granted protected geographical indication status, much like French champagne.
We buy pepper from small family farms under direct trade terms that guarantee fair compensation for every grower, and we strive to promote this approach among other traders too.
By buying from us, you get not only the highest-quality pepper, but also the assurance that you are purchasing a sustainable and ethically responsible product that helps ensure its producers can provide medical care and education for their children.

Characteristics

When ground, black pepper releases notes of eucalyptus, camphor and thyme, accompanied by the aroma of lime zest.

These gradually give way to a coastal aroma with developing fruity notes. The dominant aromas are peach and nectarine, accompanied by the scent of pine and earthy notes of mineral-rich Cambodian mountain soil.

Processing

For black pepper, the peppercorns are harvested while they are still green.

They are then dried under the intense Cambodian sun, developing their characteristic black color and wrinkled surface.

Careful selection, in line with the strict quality requirements for pepper exported from Kampot set by the Kampot Pepper Promotion Association, ensures that only the finest peppercorns are hand-picked. They are then vacuum-packed to preserve their quality and freshness on the journey to the Czech Republic, where they are further sorted, packed and delivered to your table.

Uses

With their varying flavors, aromas and pungency, different types of pepper are suited to different uses. Black pepper is an all-rounder that works well in almost any dish.

Even so, it pairs especially well with dark red meat. It takes any steak cooked on the grill or in a pan to perfection, but also works beautifully in classic sauces and soups and pairs wonderfully with pasta. The finer you crush Kampot pepper, the more intense its pungency; larger fragments or whole peppercorns, on the other hand, impart more of pepper's distinctive notes to a dish.

Packaging

Thanks to the materials used and the special pouch-sealing technology, air and moisture are kept away from the pepper.

As a result, even after opening the pouch, the peppercorns retain the authentic flavor and aroma of Kampot pepper. Once empty, the pouches can also be upcycled as a sustainable choice and reused in many different ways. We pack pepper in resealable pouches ranging in size from 20 to 1,000 grams. Each pack also includes a booklet that tells the story of the world's finest pepper and introduces you to the world of .pepper..field.

Awards

Quality comes first for us, as confirmed not only by the certifications our pepper carries, but also by the awards it wins in competitions around the world.

Among the most significant is the award our pepper received at the Great Taste competition, one of the most prestigious events in the world of gastronomy.

Sustainability is also important to us, and we don’t see it as just empty words, as demonstrated by the SDG Award given to truly sustainable and socially responsible projects.
